- TurboPAC is a hot new online arcade-type door in which the user guides
- his character, PacMan, through dozens of action-packed mazes, gobbling
- pellets, finding secrets, grabbing bonuses, and avoiding ghosts. Find
- a Power Pellet, and the user can go on a ghost hunt, giving the ghosts
- a taste of their own medicine!

- As a formality, this had to be included. TurboPAC *should* be safe
- to use on just about any IBM or compatible, but...

- TurboPAC may be freely distributed and used provided that the
- following conditions are met:

- 1) TurboPAC must be distributed and/or used UNALTERED, with all
- documentation and support files.

- 2) Only the UNREGISTERED version of TurboPAC may be distributed.
- Registered copies (and/or registration keys) may NOT, for any
- purpose, be used by any person other than the person to whom
- the key belongs.

- 3) It is preferred that the original compression style (the RAR self
- extractor) is maintained. However, if absolutely necessary, the
- compression format may be changed to another archiver.

- TurboPAC requires the following to run:

- ■ An IBM XT/AT/386/486/Pentium/686+ or compatible
- ■ A modem, 300-38400 BPS (tested with a USRobotics 14400 Sportster
- Faxmodem)
- ■ A FOSSIL driver (was tested with BNU, should work fine with X00
- or any other compatible)
- ■ DOOR.SYS or DORINFO1.DEF (must be produced by RemoteAccess or
- whichever BBS system you use)
- ■ A terminal supporting ANSI emulation (user only)

- Just run TPSETUP.EXE and your on your way!

- Just be sure to run TPAC.EXE with the correct parameters telling the
- node number and the path to either DORINFO?.DEF or DOOR.SYS

- -@<x> Force multitasker, replace <x> with one of the following:
- D = DESQview W = Windows N = NetWare
- 2 = DoubleDOS O = OS/2 X = Force NO detection
- If you don't use this parameter, the multitasker will be detected

- -S<###> Releace timeslice every <###>/100ths of a second (default is
- 100/100ths, or every 1 second. If this door is running slow,
- play around with this (should speed it up). Or use the F9 key.

- TurboPAC was created, tested, and released using a USRobotics 14400
- faxmodem. It was also tried at 2400 baud, but the lag was so
- pronounced that it was impossible for the user to keep up with the
- game. For this reason, TurboPAC will not allow users who are under
- 9600 baud to enter -- it will simply display a short message to the
- user and then return to the BBS.

- The TurboPAC character, PacMan, is controlled by the user using the
- number keypad's 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and 9 keys, with Num-Lock ON. If the
- user's terminal supports ANSI keyboard translation (most do),
- TurboPAC will also allow him to use the regular arrow keys.

- Items, Characters, and more!

- This is you. Now try not to kill yourself, ok?

- █ This is a wall. This is only a wall. If this were anything
- BUT a wall, then it wouldn't be a wall, would it? Actually it
- would.
-
- ▓ These are doors. You'll notice that they're red and blue in
- ▒ the game, and will require keys to be opened.
-
- ▀ These are more walls. They may look like you can get through
- ▄ them, but they're just like the above.
-
- ∩ This is your home base. It has no significance except for the
- fact that it's where you start out.
-
- ■ This is the ghosts' home base. This one DOES have a fair
- amount of significance -- When you gobble a ghost, he must
- return here before he can attack you again. This is where all
- ghosts originate from.
-
- ∙ This is a pellet. Down as many of these as you can -- they
- increase your score, and when you've eaten all of 'em, you can
- proceed to the next level.

- Θ This is a Power Pellet. If you see one of these, and you've
- got a ghost close on your tail, grab it. The ghost will turn
- dark blue and take off like a bat outta hell! If you can
- catch him, you get lunch! Careful, though -- If he turns a
- lighter shade of blue, you'll only have 3 seconds before he
- regains his confidence and turns on you again!

- ⌡ These are keys. They may not look like keys, but trust us,
- ⌠ they are. If you can manage to grab one of these, you'll be
- able to open the door with the corresponding color.

- > These are one way walls. As the name suggests, you can only
- < go through them in the direction they're pointing. Be careful
- if you see 'em in a level, because 99% of the time they're
- there to screw you up!

- « These are teleporters. Touch one of these and you'll be
- » zapped to the corresponding destination teleporter -- no doubt
- right next to the ghosts' starting point....

- ? Bonus! This sucker gives you a random point bonus, or, if you
- happen to get lucky, a free life.

- ≡ Arrows! You will be able to shoot at the ghosts using these,
- simply hit '5' or space bar to load, then the direction you
- with to shoot in.

- TurboPAC registration falls under the same registration requirements
- as any of the other registerable Mikerosoft Productions: You are not
- required to register, but there are bonuses if you do!

- I have made an added a utility that will allow you to create your own
- levels in TurboPAC. However, TurboPAC will not be able to read these
- files, you will have to contact me someway and give them to me, and
- if I like them, I will add them to the next version of TurboPAC, and
- you name will be added somwhere in the docs!
